Curriculum

In classes I & II, the students are introduced to formal schooling. They follow a regular time-table for both scholastic and co-scholastic activities. Their reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills are developed through various activities, like integrating content with e-learning modules and educational videos, helping students acquire knowledge from the unknown to the known and involving them through dialogues, sharing experience through activities which include roleplay, projects, etc.

It is at the early primary stage that mathematical concepts are introduced using stickers, blocks, cards, number tags and Abacus Brain Gym exercises.

English language skills are enhanced through vocabulary building games like scrabble, word chain, crossword, etc. Environmental Studies is introduced for the first time through activities like nature walks and simple experiments, etc. Stories having a moral lesson which inspires the students to be good human beings are read out and explained in the class.

Primary Education is the foundation of the learning, laid at the formative stage of a child's life. This age is the most impressionable span of life, when these little learners are adaptive and observant of every activity happening around them in their immediate environment.

At KPS, the aim of Primary Education is to provide learners an education system which enables them to enhance their personal development, acquire skills and knowledge. A well-mapped curriculum to hone their 3 Rs- Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. It also allows the students to nurture their deep learning skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, self-awareness, problem solving, decision making, coping with emotions, communication and interpersonal skills.

This phase of education plays a pivotal role in preparing the learner for study techniques for the Secondary Education. In the cozy lap of the Primary Wing of KPS , learning also encompasses the development of 3Hs-Head- for cognitive development and being logical, Heart-control and development of emotions and feelings, Hands-about practicality, action and physical effect. This way it fosters the all-round development of the learners and empowers them to evolve as confident Global Citizens.

Classes III to V

The entire education process at the Primary Wing of KPS is designed in such an innovative way that the priceless treasures of creativity, knowledge and curiosity unearth from the hearts of the young children. Our multi- dimensional curriculum stimulates each child to emerge from the cocoon and blossom into confident individual with vibrant mind ever yearning to learn and raring to march ahead. We constantly upgrade our methodologies by adopting new tools and framework inside the classrooms that disseminate knowledge which is engaging and interactive. Evaluation here is not to test knowledge but to broaden the horizons of knowledge. We follow a Comprehensive and Continuous Assessment plan to chart the academic growth of our learners.

The assessment during the academic session is divided into two terms. In each term there are two Periodic Assessments. Each assessment comprises of written assessment wherein children are assessed for their conceptual clarity, critical and logical thinking and comprehension skills. Apart from the pen paper assessments children are motivated to conduct research through projects and prepare presentations. They are graded for their conceptual clarity and presentation skills in the process infusing confidence in the young learners .

Children are continuously assessed for their reading, speaking and listening skills in Language Development Programme . The learners not only develop factual, inferential and extrapolative skills but attain fluent command over the language. Each term culminates into appraisals and performance analysis where in parents are provided with the feedback of the progress of each child. Remedial measures are adopted and learning deficiencies are addressed to ensure that each child works to its fullest potential and climb up the academic ladder. The assessments are carried out with the perceptive that the virtue of honesty, sincerity and competitive spirit, instilled by the institution, is reflected in the performance of the students.

Early childhood is the essential phase of life, when with tender care and caution the seeds of action are sown in a child's mind. It is the time when a child tends to be highly receptive, inquisitive and keen on keeping himself or herself busy with one thing or the other. It is the time a child is on a perpetual look-out for a very vibrant, colourful environment.

To meet the pre-requisites of early learning, the school organizes multi-purpose activities for the students of Pre-Primary keeping in mind their age group, tendencies and interests.

These activities include colouring, drawing and painting, fancy dress competitions, rhyme recitation, quiz competitions, collage work, fruit chat making, music, dance and dramatics and other interactive programmes.

To facilitate physical growth and development of child we have a number of co-curricular activities, such as- Sports, Dance, Skating, Taekwondo, Swimming, Yoga, etc.

Students are adequately exposed to good eating habits, nutritious food, health and hygiene, disadvantages of eating junk food, besides other related issues. Teachers are trained to monitor even the minutest issue, for better understanding and awareness among young scholars.

Keeping pace with the changing times, the school management has taken a leap towards virtual teaching with innovative use of smart boards in all classes.
