Kalka Pharmacy Department

Kalka Institute for Research and Advanced Studies (KIRAS) had introduced B.Pharm in the year 2005 and Kalka Pharmacy Institute for Advanced Studies i.e D.Pharm in the year 2018.
The pharmacy profession, comprising the industrial, hospital and practice sectors, is undergoing a rapid change. Indian Pharma industry, which has registered a spectacular progress today, ranks 4th in volume and 13th in value in the global pharmaceutical market with exports worth US Dollars 2.6 billion and domestic sales amounting to over US Dollars 4 millions in India.
The ever-expending Pharmaceutical industries, Hospitals and practice sectors need clinically and technologically trained pharmacy professionals, who can face global challenges and compete with the multinationals. The pharmacist is no longer a merely dispenser of drug, but has assumed a more crucial role in medicine management and as overall healthcare programmer.
The institute has its own spectacular building with spacious well-equipped sophisticated central instrumentation Facility, Laboratories, Classrooms; LCD projector equipped seminar Rooms, Museum, Computer lab and other facilities as per norms and standard of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). We have fully professional and experienced teaching faculty members with experienced laboratory technicians.

Admission Procedure & Eligibility


Bachelor of Pharmacy is four years, semester wise full time course and Diploma in Pharmacy is a Two years annual system full time course and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, affiliated to AKTU and Board of Technical Education (BTE) Lucknow, respectively.

D.Pharmacy course is a career-oriented program in the medical field of Pharmacy, designed to familiarize candidates with the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science. The purpose of the program is to prepare students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level positions in retail pharmacies as well as pharmaceutical companies.
Certificate Holders of D. Pharma. may start practising as pharmacists in India. Some of the areas recruiting them are:

  • Government hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Private hospitals
  • Community health centres
  • Private drug stores.

Other than working for hospitals or private drug stores, such professionals may even start their own private drug stores, with access to decent financial resources and entrepreneurship skills.
In pharmaceutical companies, they work at divisions like process control, manufacturing, quality control, and marketing. While in the marketing sector, they may work for firms involved in pharmaceutical products marketing. They may also work as:

  • Medical representatives, medical transcriptionists, technical supervisors.
  • Chemists, pharmacists, quality analysts, medical representatives.
  • Production executives, scientific officers in private firms.
